I've had tons of good parts from David Silver. The big problem with buying up dealers' old stock is that you are relying on them to keep things in the correct marked bags / boxes for 40 years or more.

I suspect a lot of the leftover parts are 'returns' which got put back in the wrong packaging.

In the case of the shock busings - they were CB72 / CB400F parts so may or may not have worked on the Scrambler.

If there is uncertainty I get them to send a photo.

The CB bush doesn't fit the CL. (I have close to 50 of the CB)
I cut 2 out of a swing arm for him. .............lm

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been lurking from time to time, but summer keeps me pretty busy so I haven't done much posting.

Well, summers gone up here so its time to turn my attention back to the CL. To get you all caught-up, I'll let you in on my progress. Pretty much all the farmed out stuff is back and it all turned out first rate. The frame and do-dads are powder coated, the chrome is all redone, the motor has been gone thru and spit shined (thanks Ed!) and the sheet metal has been returned to silver. As I said I am very pleased with all of it, so if anyone needs a reference in this part of the world (southern Mn) I'd be glad to do so!

So, right now, I'm just finishing up some odds and ends. Like polishing the aluminum and zinc plating nuts bolts and assorted hooby-joobies using the technique described on this site.

I am considering sending the speedometer to the Speedo Shop in Ca. to be gone through. Two things I would like to ask are; 1. Does anyone know where a replacement/sticker dial face could be had? and 2. There is a piece of black rubber/foam rubber that runs around the circumference of the unit. I presume this is for vibration isolation. Anyway, I am almost sure this thing will not survive the disassembly. Does anyone have any ideas for a replacement?

Malcomb, thanks for the link. Great website! Found a lot of stuff I can use. Now I just need to determine if there is a speedo dial face sticker to be had. Anyone have ideas?

Thanks
Paul

Ed I thought I read that somewhere myself, but the guy said I would have to find one and ship it along with the unit. Google search shows them available for the CB but I couldn't find anything for the CL, so maybe that's the case with the Speedo Shop as well?
