Chance to buy a 65 CL77

Post by cleg » Mon Aug 31, 2015 10:44 am

There is a CL77 available near me for $1850. It needs paint and overall resto but everything is there and he has quite a few new parts. The complete exhaust is there also to the final tip. What is a deal for this? Thanks guys

Running with title?.............Good seat?....................Minimal rust on rims?...............Full front and rear fenders........braces?.............slotted chainguard with no cracks?.............good speedo?..........correct handlebars?

If yes to all.........its a bargain..................all parts are good but not running, OK............stuck motor.........negotiate.

What is your goal...............100-point resto?...........nice rider?

He states running when parked. Engine kicks with good compression. Has title, good seat (doesn't matter. I am a corporate aircraft upholsterer) Bike is complete and rims look decent in pics.

You're gonna keep it right? Sounds as if the resto cost will run you right up to the value of the bike once completed. Assuming you'll be the one performing the labor, it sounds like a fair price to me. Not to try to low ball the seller, but he must have a bottom dollar selling price. You never know till you ask! And like OldScrambler said, the slotted chain guard and complete exhaust themselves are prized parts $$$$.
Let us know if you do it or not.
