To re, or not to re...
Both the CL and the Benelli stood outside for a long time with no air cleaners on the carbs, so it's locked up solid. The brakes are even locked up.
Same with the Benelli, but I managed to dismantle the top end. On that one the bottom end is pretty clean and free-turning. The saving grace there might have been due to it being a horizontal cylinder. With the CL I'd like to at least get it free-rolling and standing up on its own (looking for the peg bracket/side stand). I'll get the plugs out of it and douse the cylinders with some PB Blaster (along with every other nut and bolt) and let it sit. As with the Benelli, freeing up the motor and sorting it out would be a first priority. Once I have a serviceable lump, I can move on to frame, wheels, tins, etc. That is IF I decide to do anything with it.... Bikes:

Brewsky, those, the peanut tank and chopped fenders were my teenage attempt at "bobbing" the bike. See, I had a Bobber, long before they invented the term. LOL BTW, I'd sell you those Z bars cheap. I'll even throw in the peanut tank. :) Bikes:

Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass since I have no use for them in the forseeable future......but......they will be worth something to somebody! 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
Funny you should mention going through a "phase" with a CL450. I did the same thing with one back in the late 70's. It was a "You-meet-the-nicest-people-on-a-Honda" blue and white, which didn't fit my image at all. So I painted tank and covers a hideous brown, added a 2 into 1 low pipe, cobra seat, Z bars...
When I think of it, what I did to bikes back then should have been a punishable offense... But I think I've made up for it since with some nice as-original, or nearly restorations. LOL Bikes:
