CL77 restorers - NJ area

Post by rdefabri » Tue Sep 18, 2007 8:39 pm

Hi all, long time lurker.

I own a 1967 CL77 Scrambler, 8,000 original miles. It's been in my family since before I was born, my Dad purchased it right before I came along :) It's been in my possession for about 15 years, I had refreshed it and rode it after selling one of my Harleys. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks prior to getting married, I crashed it. The bike ran fine, but I suspect possible bent forms and/or damage to front hub. I also damaged one of the (original) tank badges.

The bike has been sitting in my garage since then. As my Dad is still alive, I would love to get the bike restored - perhaps not show quality, but could use a nice re-work.

I don't have the time to do this myself. I also don't really have the skills/patience. I am looking for a reputable East Coast shop that specializes in Hondas.

Any thoughts? It won't be something I do immediately, but I am interested in getting the project started in the next year or so.

Thanks in advance!

Bump - can't believe I posted this 6 years ago...

Still looking for someone in the NJ area that could restore my '67 CL/77. I just don't have time to do it myself, and I would really love to get it roadworthy again so my Dad can see it as it once was.

Anyone have a reputable reference?

Which badge is bad, left or right....I am probably going to get the repop badges for my cl77 and will have a good right side badge available down the road. If I can find a good left side original badge, will keep the original right side badge. Keep me in mind when you start on the project. I might have a badge for you.

I don't suspect there are any shops doing CL77 restos on a regular basis. I suggest you check out the VJMC. They probably have resto shops listed that are close to you.

Rob

get a hold of Ed Moore. it won't cost that much to ship the bike to him (texas) and you will get a good job done by a specialist in CL's.
