Hello.. greg from fairhaven, mich
among a bunch of old bikes I have is a cl77
It's pretty darn nice, runs, shifts, etc
In talking/emailing people about the bike.. there seems to be some question as to it's year, and it's rareity.
Titled (on a 1970 michigan title) as a 1965
both frame neck and engine say CL77
BOTH ARE EXTREMLY LOW NUMBERS FRAME 00019 ENGINE 00014
FRONT BRAKE IS SMALL, SINGLE LEADING SHOE
HAS THE SLIP ON MUFFLER.. ONE MUFFLER FOR 2 PIPES
METAL. FOLDING FRONT PEGS
RUBBER FOLDING REAR PEGS
KNEE PADS APPREAR ORIGINAL AND ARE REAL NICE
BADGES ARE PLASTIC REPOPS
TANK IS EXTREMLY NICE, OFF SET FILL HOLE, NO SEAM
FRONT FENDER AND BRACE VERY NICE
CHAIN GUARD IS LOUVERED AND VERY NICE
8900 MILES
Is there anything extra special about this bike with the low vin's, small brake, etc....
everything apprear original except the paint which is new silver
frame has 45 year patina as do the wheels.. but all pretty nice
cables original, some cracking, correct wire adjustors, original handgrips
thanks in advance
1965 CL77, looking for thoughts or opinions pleaseSounds like a 65 for sure. Does it also have steel lower fork sliders, small single leading shoe rear hub, and an 8 hole front fender? There should be 4 bolts on the top, and two at each end. The 65's do seem to be a bit rarer, and it sounds like you scored a really nice one. We love pics, so post some when you get a chance.
