What's it worth?

Post by camarory69 » Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:35 am

Hello all, I'm new to posting on the forum but have been viewing it for a while now. I ride a 65 CB77 Superhawk with 3200 orig. miles that I have done a partial resto on. I will be going to look at a 67 CL77 Scrambler tomorrow, and I was hoping that some of you can shed some light on what it may be worth. Here is the info that I've received over the phone...current owner bought it in 1969, it is supposed to have around 1,500 miles on it, supposed to be all complete and original, but has been sitting in indoor storage for 20+ years. The engine is stuck from sitting. Assuming the bike needs cleanup work, but is not all rusted out, what would something like this be worth?

I'm by no means an expert, but I would pay $1000 for it. $2500 will get you a new motor and everything cleaned up and updated. If it turns out well, it could be worth over $6000. Lots of variables to consider, though :)

Engine could possibly be freed up by putting some Marvel Mystery Oil or kerosene in the cylinders, applying some heat from the outside and a wrench (socket) on the alternator nut and trying to free it up. JMHO
