Hello,

In 1962 and1963 the CL72's had 5 digit framenumber, the first number was the last number of the year of building.
In 1964 the CL72 got a 7 digit framenumber and started with 1100001 thru 1109459 numbers, followed by CL72-4000001-4003437
The CL72 that I own has Framenumber CL72 1103157 with engine CL72E 1103178 and has original papers of the bike from the beginning. They show that this particular bike was indeed build 1964.
The 1965 model of the CL72 started with 1000001
In 1965 were 9480 CL72's sold in the states, so I asume, and agree with Loud Mouse, that your bike with framenumber CL72 1004069 is of the year 1965

I disagree with the numbering sequence you show for the 62/63 CL72 HONDAS. Here in the US they did have 6 digits on frame and engine. I do agree on the 64/65 numbering. ............lm

I have to correct myself

In 1962 there was a 5 digit frame number and a 6 digit engine number
In 1963 there was indeed a 6 digit framenumber

I'm refering in this to searchwork of Bill Silver

I have seen (have one here) the CB72 frame with 5 digit numbers but never a US issue CL72. I have all of Bills books and his CD info. May I have the page you have with Bills frame numbering?. .............lm
