cb 72cb 72Hello all I am new and have a 1962 cb 72 frame #CB72 20272 engine # CB72E 210294. All I have is the frame and upper and lower engine block. I would like to restore the bike and be as original as possible within reason. I am just starting into the Superhawk arena and am open to any input. I have found out the not many of the 250's were sold here. That being the case is this going to be a money pit chasing parts or are there enough bikes that I might find a rolling chasis to use? The 305 parts interchange to a degree and the different changes over the years seem to allow one to get the bike up and running and then change parts as you find them. Does this sound reasonable and anyone gone this route. Also has anyone looked into E Bay in other countries for parts and what was your experience? Thanks in advance for all your input. Mark
My advice would be to find as complete as possible 62 CB77, parts bike prefferably, and you can mine the chasis parts from it. The engine parts can come from a CL72 motor, much more common on this side of the Atlantic. Shipping will kill you on overseas items, so try to shop locally! Also, add your location to your profile, and you'll get more responses, and may even have a fellow member close by. This is a big undertaking for someone new to the CB's, but it certainly can be done.
Davo Davo, Thanks for the advise. My matching 62 frame and empty case as much as I would like to restore might be to expensive. After looking at prices on E Bay it would be to costly to try and build a bike. Most everyone seems to want to sell each and every part one at a time, even assemblies are broken down. I do understand they can get more money selling parts one at a time at the expense of sometimes taking a good rebuild project and selling off it's more valuable parts. If the bike is not a canidate for restoration I can see it. If it is I think selling it as a restoration project is a better way to preserve another classic Honda. Thanks for your advise I am down here in San Jose.
