Kickstart Bushing at Right Side Cover

Post by flyin_ » Tue Dec 13, 2011 3:29 pm

I am going to have a new bronze bushing made to repair my right side cover at the kickstart shaft. It looks like this repair has been posted on this forum already but I'll document my progress as well.

If anyone would like a new bushing let me know. I should be able to make 3 or 4 extras from the new bushing stock i just received. I'll know how much the machinist is going to charge later this week or next week.

I got the new bronze bushing back from the machinist yesterday and it looks great. He did a really nice job. It looks like the part came straight from Honda. It fits nice and tight in the side case and has very little play at the kick shaft. I hope to get it installed over the holiday weekend. He is willing to use up the bronze stock I gave him and make 3 or 4 more if anyone is interested. I'm not sure how much he will charge me to make the additional bushings yet.

Like many others, my right side cover is busted at the kick shaft. The plastic bushing does not support the shaft adequately. Here is the busted case.

Its time to replace my worn bushing as well. What are the dimensions of the bushing? I'd like to order some stock and spin one up on my lathe. Thanks, Mark

New bushing was installed. It fit nice and tight in the right cover and the kick shaft fits great. I set it in red lock tight and fixed the broken case with JB weld. I am going to have a few more bushings made to this spec. PM me if your are interested in one and I'll let you know how much.

Thanks for the offer, but I spun one up out of bronze on the lathe last night. Fits like a glove. Mark

Hey sorry for the late reply I just found this post. I am also interested. What was the price on that.

Will it work on a Dream side cover?

Thanks
