Left exhaust smoking, Idling high after warm

Post by Dugan » Fri Aug 09, 2013 7:14 am

Hello,

So last weekend I took my Hawk on it (and my) first long ride from Chicago to Milwaukee and back. Everything was going fine (although I think I need smaller main jets) until I was almost home then, I noticed a significant amount of white smoke coming from the left exhaust.

Then I noticed it began to idle quite high when stopped; 2500 -3500 RPM. When I stopped and let it cool even for a few minutes, it would idle normally and not smoke, but shortly after riding again both symptoms returned.

Timing is fine. I'm thinking it's maybe a head gasket, or other gasket, but wanted to get any ideas you all might have before I dive into it this weekend.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

All The Best,

Dugan
