kickstarter washers and clips

Post by drab » Sun Jun 30, 2013 10:56 am

Hi,

I was hoping to get some expert opinion on reassembly.
The parts book - as usual - is vague in the diagram.

In putting the kickstarter arm back onto the gear shaft I have three pieces:
1. a 16mm clip
2. a 20mm clip
3. a "beveled" washer

The parts book explains the order of reassembly - 16mm clip, then washer, the kickstarter arm. But then I am left with a 20mm clip?

Basically, what is the correct order of assembly and which way does the thrust washer go - taper towards the side cover, or taper towards the kickstarter arm?

Thanks again.

Dan

That picture isn't the greatest... On the splined shaft that the kick start lever clamps to (12) you want a thrust washer (23) on each side against the bushing, and the 16mm clip (10) on the outside of the thrust washer (not like it's shown in the picture). The other clip (9) holds the pinion gear (11) in place. There's a washer (22) on each side of the spring as well and this is shown correctly in the picture.
