hello everybody!

been lurking and doing my research for a few months now. finally picked up 2 superhawks this weekend! will post pictures and more info later, but here is what i got...

bike 1:
frame: cb77-102090x
engine: cb77e-102099x

assuming the frame/engine combo is factory original since they are less than 100 digits apart.

bike 2:
frame: cb77-103567x
engine: cb77e-31896x

engine is not original to the frame and is a pre-65 motor correct?

Welcome to the madness! Second engine is a 1963. I strongly suggest you purchase Bill Silvers engine and restoration guides available through this site. They are invaluable tools when restoring these bikes. We all love pics, so post some when you get a chance.

forum members might have seen these 2 on ebay. bought the 2nd bike just for a handful of parts (front fender, speedo/tach/headlight housing, anything else i havent realized that is missing on 1st bike). only obvious thing missing from my project is original exhaust. first thing on to-do list is certainly getting both silver books.

lm...not sure if that was meant to be sarcastic, but for the price i figured i couldnt go wrong. having a dad/uncle with a body shop and another uncle that has a decorative plating shop is going to help a lot in trying to keep the cost of the finished bike under $1k (not considering a correct exhaust). rest assured, my taillight bracket will be silver in the end!

I like the idea of a gold SuperHawk in that parts bike, and I like the possibilities of the high exhaust in the other one. But I'm always looking at turning bikes into 'specials', so definitely take my thoughts with many grains of salt!
