New owner of a 64 and a 69 looking for some help

Post by stout » Fri Feb 06, 2009 7:41 pm

I am in the process of fixing these up, can someone tell me the difference between the '69 and the '64. They seem very similar but all of the NOS parts I find seem to be spec'd up to a '68 model. Is the '69 not a superhawk? If not, what is it? the VIN says it is a cb77. Thanks for your help -Stout

Your '69' CB77 is probably a 68 model. Honda dealers sold the leftover (previous year bikes) as current year bikes. Find the ser.# on the crankcase and stem and ask somone here to look it up or read some previous questions on this subject(prefered method) to get an answer. Looks like a great project! And being from Two Rivers I know how long those winters are! Kustommusic

Sure would be nice to know the frame number. HONDA ended production of these bikes in (((((((((1967))))))))))))) and due to the style of the tail light I'd say it's a 1966. .................lm

what's the frame number (located on the frame in front of the gas tank, left side). this will determine the year of the frame. as for engine parts that need to be ordered, reference the number on the case, left side top.

What am I looking for in the VIN number? Is there a list or code posted somewhere so that I can decipher it myself? I'm leary about just throwing my VIN around. Thanks
