OK I didn't get your subtle pic hint, sorry. Let me go snap a quick one. I have no idea if the lowers are correct - I just took an educated stab at it.

Thanks!

OK this is what I have got. The spacer you see on the right side is just one I was messing with last night.

Yes, that spacer doesn't belong in there. Looking at the photo your backing plate doesn't look right. The brake shoe anchor pins protrude through the outside and are held fast by a nut on all CB77s I've had in my hands. Maybe it's a CL77/CB450 backing plate. I know they carry a different part number and I never have compared them side by side with a CB77 backing plate. Why don't you take a pic of the backing plate. BTW, how many spokes are in your front hub?

Thanks Tom! I will snap a pic tomorrow but a little ebay/google research sure looks like I have got a cl77 brake plate. The CB plate is a bit fatter where the axle goes through and negates the need for a spacer?

I wonder if I can simply run a cl spacer. Do I need the axle and everything? I would like to avoid sourcing a new plate if I can. Time for some more research. I will get you a spoke count also tomorrow. Maybe it is a cb450 wheel/brake as you said.

Thanks again.

Definitely a CL/CB450 hub and plate. The riveted posts are one detail and the discontinuity between spoke flange and rest of hub on the other side are another.

If its a CL77 speedo drive you might have problems with the direction of rotation at the speedo, unless you have a late model speedo.

OK so here is my hub - if it a a cb/cl what year would it be?

Looks like I have a 36 spoke front wheel - is this from a cb too or is this a cb77 item?

Thanks all.

Has anyone got an idea of what I need to do to run this setup or should I be sourcing some new parts? Maybe a cl/cb axle of the right year with spacers?

From the pic I see it isn't for a CB77 for sure and it is upside down for the bike it fits even if it's for a CL77. ......lm
