1962 Superhawk Restoration: Here I goI've put over 1,000 miles on the bike now since I got it and rebuilt. Did a nice ride through the Sutter Buttes on Saturday, then rode down along the Sacramento river far South. The bike does well on the freeway, going about 80mph or so without much pushing. RPM's are around 5,500 to 6,000.

Hmm....might wanna check that speedo calibration. I thought I was going 70mph on my bike, and my friend Scott with a GPS driving his minvan next to me said I was really doing 63mph. Indicated 80mph actually turned out to be 72mph. Don't know what your gearing is, but I think that stock gearing basically gives you 1000rpm's per 10mph. I found that going down one rear tooth lowers the rpm's by 500 (just my personal experience, based upon how my tach reads). I think my rear sprocket is a 29, and at (indicated) 70mph I'm revving around 6000rpm. I've got a 28t in the rear. The speedo's pretty accurate. 65mph on the speedo was confirmed to be 70mph by a friend on a SV650 with a digital speedo riding along side. My speedo was rebuilt and calibrated by Foreign Speedo.

Yup, I'm guessing that's where the 28t kicks in? Bike runs strong with new pistons & rings, .25 bore, and e-igntion.
