it was well out of shape from it trip across the pond, and had some big dents in it, i have a guy not far from me, who make alloy bodywork, (ex morgan cars ) i got him to put it on his wheel .
just had a clutch cable come for the low bars, i cant get that to fit at all part no 22870 268 010, has anyone else had the same trouble with this part number.. i think i need part no 22870 268 822 100cm long, the other is 88cm...

took it for its mot, so i can get a registration doc for it, so all i have done is give it a clean, put a new battery on, everything worked. wanted to keep the rims, so gave them a coat of paint and lacquer, will get rechromed at a later date, put a steel front guard on and a spare seat. had to change the rear shock on this side, got a match on the paint. inspection next, another 2 /3 weeks..

Wow! Brings the memories flooding back for me; pretty much exactly how mine looked when I first laid eyes on it, back in '71!

I hope the attached pic gives you inspiration, Alan, for the task ahead! It belongs to a UK forum member and VJMC officer. Drink in this '61 beauty!

G'luck with your project.

Steve

cheers steve, i have pics of that bike, sent from the owner, which i use for reff. i have a long way to go with this 62 bike and my 61 bike, but my first task was to get the usa 62 bike with a uk reg, which hopefully will be next week, i took all the details up to the dvla on friday, because i had the title from the usa, they are saying i didnt need the dating letter, and it dont need to be inspected..but i wont hold my breath.
cheers alan
