Hi, This rear fender is not the early '61 version. Not sure when they changed it....maybe late '61 ??? Like Alan said they were just using up old inventory when this bike was built. Tim

cb77 1962

Post by alan curtis » Tue Sep 04, 2012 12:12 pm

just a up date on this cb77 1962 bike i puchased, today i have found the first owner of the bike, and he going to look for the parts that was missing on the bike, side covers, tool kit, licence plate. etc. he now 72, and was in the army in japan, he had a fall on the bike there, and broke his coller bone, went back to the usa in sept 1962, got married in 63, the bike was last used in 65, as his wife didnt like it, i have asked him for some pics to go in the file on the bike, but i dont think he has any with him on the bike.
also last night picked up an early owners /drivers manual, the seller could not find a date on it, i asked him to send me a pic on the inside cover of the bike, and it was the 61 model, so well pleased with that. bike is with me in the next week or so, so will post some more pics . alan

update, got the bike home to the uk yesterday, after its long drive, first thing i wanted to do was get the handle bar grips off, they are in very good condition, just soaked the left one in hot water, it came off a treat, took the tank off to have a look at the tag on the wiring, it was blank no writing at all on it. the right lever is different to what i thought it might be, any one have any ideas on that, it missing the left one.

Alan,

Glad it worked out for you. I had a set of those on one of my 1962 CB77s when I bought the old bike a few years back. I think they look good on the bike.

Cheers- Tom
