Tyres for CB77
Tyres for CB77Thanks everyone who responded to my question on tyres. In the end I have purchased Michelin M45s as they had a good assessment. I will not fit them until spring time and will let you know how they feel.
Thanks again. Gordon McConnell
Hi Jambretta,
I have had the Micjelin M45s on all last year and I am pleased with them. Previously, I had a Chinese ribbed tyre on the front. The M45 vastly improved the feel of the steering, much more precise. Grip seems fine although I am not Mike Hailwood and do not deliberately ride in the wet (but hard to avoid living in Scotland). They do not look authentic for a CB77 so some may not like them from that point of view. If you are not bothered about that aspect, I can recommend them. GMcC Thanks for your input. Given how infrequently I ride, I am going to try out the Continental ContiGo! tires. They cost 40% less than the M45s. Like the Michelin M45's they have a modern tread pattern. But unlike the M45, the pattern is more street-like (serpentine grooves), compared to interlocking blocks of rubber. I'll let you know how they work out after the June 2017 Moto Melee in California.

They have close to period style tread patterns too, rear is very close, front is ribbed with a block pattern on the very edges. Very happy with both looks and performance although I think the rear one is wearing quite quickly.
I'll check out the type numbers and post them tomorrow, would post images too but I've never figured out how. tried a couple of times without success!
I had a set of Continental ContiGo. Good grip under all weather conditions. Haven't had any scary moments with these tires. Bought them because of the price I got at 4wheelonline|Motorcycle & Truck Parts. I would recommend this Conti tire.
