Hey guys was just thinking about what the future holds for these beloved bikes of ours. With the prices of vintage bikes going up up up ie Triumphs, Norton's, Harleys etc etc. What does the future hold for us?? Prices for parts and availability have began to thin out so why haven't the value of Superhawks gone up as well? Triumph parts are readily available but still the prices have gone up the past couple years into the 10-15k range. I've recently talked to a Honda specialty shop in Japan and from what he was tellin me in japan. The average age of super hawk owners are between the 40-60 yr old range and that younger riders no longer want small displacement domestic bikes. It has started to become a problem for them. So what do you guys think about the value of these bikes in the future here in the states??

It's a difficult one to answer. It seems that the two (production) Hondas to put your money on are CB92s (125cc), CB750s and RC30s.

CB92s are fetching £10,000 in the UK while the 'bigger" CB72/77 might make £4000.

The stupid thing is that a 60s Bonneville fetches 3x the money of a modern Bonneville. Also a CB92 with a tin frame and single carb 125cc engine can fetch so much more than a C77 Dream which has twice the horsepower and basically the same running gear..... Crazy...

I think that, apart from the bikes that achieve real classic status, that the value is based upon re-living one's youth. You have to be prepared for the fact that when the people who remember these bikes from their youth expire the value may plummet.

I think that the 'problem' with the CB72/77 is that it's overshadowed by the CB450/Black Bomber and the CB750.
The CB72/77 is just a bike that is 'forgotten' by most people, it's not strange, because the late 60's was an era with very much development in the motorcycle world, so much old brances died, while so much new brances emerged, the race for big displacement was on.

Give it time, the CB77 is a great high performance bike with great looks, with 100hp/per 1000cc , wich is incredible for that time. And reliable too !
