Greg,
I've just got home and had a look at the Overlanders mufflers. In general they are really nicely made and look good quality, however for the money they are a few things I'm slightly disappointed with... Here are some photos:
Things which are not perfect (given that they're not cheap):
- The finish, while shiny, has not been properly polished. They have been polished with something very coarse, leaving slight score marks in the surface. This will either require professional polishing or copious amounts of Autosol and elbow grease to sort out.
- The brackets have been spot welded on, fairly crudely. I would guess that the guy that makes them is excellent at making the pipes themselves but is not the best welder... The picture doesn't show it hugely well but it looks quite untidy.
- The area near where the muffler joins the downpipe has been built up by welding, and finished quite roughly, leaving deep marks in the surface.
- Finally, I (probably naively) thought that the bolts to attach the mufflers to the bike would be included, but they aren't. The packing that fits between the muffler and downpipe is also not included (fair enough, but I hadn't thought about it) so will have to buy that too.
Sorry for the long post! In general I am pleased with the pipes, but for the money it would be nice if they had arrived perfect and ready to fit.
Hope that helps!
Steph.
cb77 superhawk repro mufflers david silver spares?CB77 MuflersI have always found nice used mufflers and had them re-chromed at Brown's plating in Kentucky. They will do exhaust pipes where other shops will not touch ehaust pipes.
Overlanders mufflersDo these mufflers include removable baffles? I can't tell for certain from the photos.
