Speedo Packing Alternative

Post by drab » Tue Feb 05, 2013 11:20 am

Hello,

I was curious if anyone has a good idea for replacing the rubber gasket/packing that cushions the speedometer to the headlight bucket. One NOS was just up on ebay and sold for an amazing amount! Which leads me to believe that these might not be so readily available...

Can one be fabricated? Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Dan i used the black rubber surround from a truck air filter, its the strip of rubber that sits on the top and bottom of the filter, i cut it to size and stuck with superglue!

there's a guy from South America on eBay selling modern replicas. Haven't seen any for a while but they were about $26.

They are available from Tim McDowel @ Classic Honda Restorations for $24.95 + PH

Just fitted mine to my CB77 resto and they fit well - now to source a one to one reverse drive for my counterclockwise speedo...
