There are quite a lot of RC164 replicas here in the UK, some in custom frames but quite a few using CB72/77 frames.
They all use the CBR250/4 engine which picks up on the CB77 rear engine mounts with only slight modifications. There is a story that Luigi Taveri ( 60's GP Racer ) was worried about wearing out his genuine race machine and ended up being sent a new CBR engine off the production line that matches most of the race mounting positions.

This is a good example of a CB72 framed one I saw at a show a few year's ago :-

and a close up of the engine:-

Hi Cliff

I agree but prefer the smaller Lyta style tanks rather than the big 5 gallon traditional Manx ones.
Someone I know just bought a restored CB92 from a guy who was also selling a modern Molnar Manx for about £15-17000. Andy Molnar makes new engines for Classic racing and you can get all the other bits to build one up but don't know how people who have "genuine" race bikes feel about trying to compete with newly made machines.

A lad I went to University with back in the 70's had a 350 AJS 7R on the road and then replaced it with a 500 Manx. He got booked by the police one day and as they hadn't been able to keep up and check his speed they roadblocked him and did him for "no means of audible warning" .. with an open megga !!

There will be a few of each bike I guess at next weekend's Classic Show here in Stafford in the UK.
There is a race paddock where they fire up interesting race bikes as well as the raod and race bikes exhibited inside. If I see anything particularly interesting I'll take some photos.

Just an update on the superhawk 4 cyl project. The frame and multiple parts are powdercoated black, fenders, tank etc. are getting painted hopefully this week. Forks are all painted and together. If I could figure out how to share pics I have some taken if someone can walk me through it, I'd love to keep you guys up to date with photos. Thanks nutt

It needs a once over to get it running again as it has been sitting a couple of years. Also needs a little tweaking and some sort of airbox setup.
