ANyone replaced their fuel tap/petcock with aftermarket?

Post by Gorf » Fri Nov 05, 2010 12:56 pm

I really want to put a new shiny Pingel fuel tap on my '65 Super Hawk. However it appears that this tank uses a cross-over tube from the right side of the tank as the reserve capacity. Has anyone run an Pingel, and if so: 1> what size did you use? Does anyone know the thread on the tank offhand? and 2> what did you do with the crossover tube?

You could always polish your petcock a bit to make it look new.

As for the adjacent tube, you could plug it up if you value looks more. When I bought my bike, someone had capped the other side off already. I'm guessing so the tank was easy to remove without spilling gas everywhere. Not sure that's it's really a reserve tube more than it was to just get the last bit of gas from the other side of the tank over.
