are these the right bars?
are these the right bars?finally getting started on the re-build, but I'm wondering, don't really love these bars, are these the later western bars, or do they look too high. The bike is tagged a 66....so it wouldn't have straight bars. Can anyone tell me if these look right?

From what I've seen on the web, the Canadian bikes had the high 'bar, like yours. Are there apertures for electrical cables? If so, they're possibly 'proper'.
Other info in pics herewith. Various markets had flat (UK, EU, US), intermediate (US) and Western (Ca) in different levels of availability. The history is sometimes unclear so I hope others on this forum can add their knowledge.
now that's interesting....as far as I know, this bike is likely from Canada, and yes there are cut-outs for the wires, so maybe the bars are original. I just re-chromed these because I didn't feel like trying to figure out what shorter cables I might need if I replaced the bars. I like the look of the low bars, but don't know how comfortable they would be. And by the sounds of it, they wouldn't be correct. Thanks e3steve.

FWIW: the flat 'bar, the look of which I personally prefer, isn't the most comfortable of riding positions.
Is yours a CB or a CP? Many Canadian (and German) market CP models had factory-fitted winkers; not all CPs did, though. The history and the model spec of the CP production run is a bit blurred, it seems. Also, does yours have the lip-up (type 670A) seat? And/or the little taillight? There was a response on the forum, regarding the Canada models' designation, stating that many, if not all, Canadian models were fitted with the '61-/early '62-type. I think it was from LM's vast knowledge base. I should add, at this point, that most of this info isn't my own; it's been gleaned from reading (Bill Silver's publications), research (Internet) and from others (Ed Moore, [LM]) kindly sharing their knowledge. We're all building an historic picture that everyone can add to and that everyone can view. It's a bit like doing a university thesis / dissertation -- you get marked, not for knowing the answer, but for knowing where to find the answer. Keep feeding the forum, guys!
No, mine is a CB, no winkers on it when I got it, although there were extra wires on the wiring harness that looked they had been hooked up to something, although the harness was such a mess, I got a new one. The harness was labelled 1966, although the bike is registered as a 68. I understand that is fairly normal. Mine has the lip on the seat, and I believe the bigger taillight. Here's a pic of it so far, not quite done yet, but hopefully in a week or 2.
