Wheel Rims and Spokes

Post by johnzmg » Sun May 11, 2008 9:40 pm

I frequently see new wheel rims and spokes on eBay. One of the sellers is Apex but some of the others are in Asia. The price of the rims is definitely less than I can have mine replated. Has anyone bought these?

1) How is the quality?
2) Is the plating good?
3) Are the spoke hole at the correct angle?
4) Are ther markings (DOT or other) on the rims?

Thanks!
John

from what i've read on them ....

1) How is the quality? mediocre at best
2) Is the plating good? decent
3) Are the spoke hole at the correct angle? nope
4) Are ther markings (DOT or other) on the rims? nope

so depending on your intent / pickiness they may or may not suit your needs. havent bought any myself, mostly based on what i've read about them. see much the same 'mediocre at best' info on the spokesets available on ebay too.

When i checked with honda, they still offered oem spokes at about half the price of what buchanon spoke quoted me. i've been blasting/etching/epoxy coating mine to keep my project costs down. had to buy up a couple cheap extra rims to get enough good restoration candidates.
