Cylinder -> ignition ???

Post by hondauser » Sat May 06, 2017 2:25 am

Hi folk ,
What's the connection between cylinder and ignition ???
It is à classic confusion and You mean certainly between ignition and engine type ,
type 1 at 180 , type 2 at 360 ????
On your picture , 2 sensor ignition is for a type 1 Engine , CB 72/77 at 180° ,

My error was looking at the EI sensors in the original position, with the sensors up. I ended up having to mount the plate facing down in order to clear the points cover. I assumed the left was left and right was right but that is not correct. I should have used the heels that contact the points cam as a reference.

hondauser, thanks for trying but you backed up way too far. My signed Bill Silver books are from '98.

So in the end, this is what works. I guess being semi dyslexic didn't help.

If anyone sees this later and is installing Trytronics, You HAVE to center the sensors over the spark plug because of the recess in the points cover. You will have to set the timing within the small range in that spot and the little amount of adjustment the sensors themselves give you. I finally got it together and running correctly. I also had to trim the points cover gasket to give the new wiring enough room.
