It should go down a lot more than that....is that bottomed out?

Dream carbs will not allow the slide in at 180 out.

Something is keeping it from bottoming out.

Are you sure the idle screw (the one towards the rear) is turned out?

Needle bent and hitting off center?

Jet needle stopped completely up?

Cable too tight?

high idle

Brewsky,Dream slides will go in 180 out and will prevent the slide from bottoming it out.
It happened to me. Causes an extremely high idle. Not saying for sure this is the case but should at least be pulled out and checked.

Definately not bottomed out! Is there play in the throttle cable? Slide in correctly as the others have suggested?

Looking at the pic again, I don't see the cutout at the bottom of the slide, so I don't think you have it in backwards.

so I'm feeling pretty stupid on this one, but i finally figured it out. there is a throttle adjustment screw near the pivot of the handlebars turning side to side. if it gets caught, it will pull the throttle WIDE open. didn't think about there being one further down the cable, instead of next to the throttle like on all the other hondas.

Glad you figured it out.
Mine did the same thing.....middle adjuster hung up on the frame tab under the tank!

Brewsky,It takes about a case of inexperience! That was probably one of the first of my many errors when putting my bike back together.Mike
