69 CB350 tach

Post by zlseth » Wed Apr 27, 2016 6:55 pm

Not sure if I posted this in the right place before. Sorry for multiple posts:

I have a 1969 CB350. The original tach does not work, so I bought one online. The replacement had one bolt that is partly broken off and therefore too short to attach to the bike. Also, the face is more weathered than the original, so I would like to replace the face and the bolts in the newer one with those parts from the original. But, since the casing is factory sealed, I cannot figure out how to open it up without destroying the casing (like I did with the original one). Does anybody have any suggestions how to crack this thing apart?

I have not done this procedure .............but a friend has...........and others on the sohc4.net forum suggest this..............cut a straight line across the plastic casing with a thin blade or sharp knife. Do the rebuild and then position the seam more or less at 6 or 7 as if on a clock-face, and glue the seam with 2-part epoxy. Good Luck
