CB77 foot peg plates question

I noticed something strange on my foot peg / exhaust hanger brackets. The mating surface for the pegs (the three toothed/ indexed threaded holes) is completely flat. As in, lay it face down on sheet of glass and it sits flush. The shifter side, however, isn't. The front two holes are plumb, but the rear mount is bent in towards the swing arm. Not a lot, but maybe 10 degrees?

No cracks or distress on that plate, otherwise. So did my bike fall on that side or was it just sloppy casting?

What's the protocol to slowly bend it back? Or just get my head checked.

It will be bent. You may be able to straighten it. At the very least you need to anneal the bracket before trying.

Anneal aluminium using soap, it turns black just before the melting point of the metal, do an internet search for details.

has anyone ever annealed these plates before? it seems like it might be difficult to anneal something this thick.

I use a large torch with a rose bud. Clamp bracket in a good vise with soft jaws then heat it up till it moves with some force using a big cresent wrench. Be careful aluminum melts at 1100f. If it cracks vee it out then weld it.
