Unknown Grommet under Left/Right Luggage Carrier Support

Post by bbap » Wed Jan 05, 2011 9:13 am

I'm in a waiting mode right now. I'm waiting for all the parts I have on order yesterday to get the motor back on the bike and while I was removing items and cleaning I noticed something I could not account for.

Under the left and right luggage carrier support on the very last hole in the rear fender there is a grommet (small one). They looks very much original and they enter the cavity under the Honda Cap plates and then lines up with the lower round hole in the Carrier Supports - both sides.

I suspect that this had to do with rear winkers or possibly an optional wiring harness passage for rear bag lights, but I could not see how the wires would terminate beyond the plate. Unless there was another optional plate that had an exit hole it it......?

Thoughts?

Thanks as always! Steve

I noticed that on one of my dreams too, but not on my other, the one that had it had winkers on it so I assumed that it was for that but, I agree with you as I do not really understand how it was used.

Hmmmm, unless there was an optional Honda Cap that also had a hole in it to exit the wires for the winkers that would take the place of the existing cap??

I can fix it! I think I'll drill a 1/2" hole through the Honda Cap and install some Romex cable. Just in case I need to put a pair large automotive type turn signals that run off the optional automotive Interstate battery with 950CCA that I will install in one of the bags on the rear.... :)

The bigger battery is defiantly a good idea, I installed one to but without the convenience of bags to put it in. The new cranking power is a great improvement, I also love my rick's motorsports stator to charge it.
