Broke the chain last night - suggestions?Broke the chain last night - suggestions?

I swear I wasn't doing a big smoky burnout (because the little thing can't). Looks like my chain just expired while coasting along. 41 years was enough. The master link is intact, so it broke elsewhere.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a new chain? - I see none on Ebay - What is the stock size? Should I bother with a high dollar o-ring chain?

Thanks,

M7
-'64 SuperHawk
Re: Broke the chain last night - suggestions?M7, That is such a fine lookin' cb!! You have #530 chain. It depends what your sprockets are as far as length. A good guess would be 98-100 links. The O-ring stuff is pricey probably 100.00 bucks or so I believe. My brother has it on his VTR 600 and swears by it. I'm a bit cheaper and bought the regular stuff off evil bay. I was warned that some sellers are selling you industrial chain!!!! so I don't know if its true but watch out. Good luck! Steve greer
Re: Broke the chain last night - suggestions? Thanks for the compliment - I got a new chain taday from the local bike shop. $36, some grinding off of extra chain and some polishing and I'm on the road again. Attached is a pic from central Texas last weekend - '72 Tramp, '73 Guzzi and my '64
Re: Broke the chain last night - suggestions?M7
Great looking bikes!
Isn’t it strange to see it still green in Texas at the end of August!
If you cruse up this way (Wichita Falls) Stop by I’ll give you a Cup of coffee and we can brag about our rides. There is some good ridding up this way. Just across the red there are a lot of neat things to see and do.

Rob
Old bikes like old men, sometimes you have to kick start them

Re: Broke the chain last night - suggestions? If your chain was anything like mine ('67 Dream) it was probably stretched out and unevenly at that. I did shell out for a new O-ring chain ($132) and it does run really nice and smooth. My local Honda dealer had it in stock.
