I was out for a ride yesterday with my son. His Dream has a La Pera seat on it that hugs the frame and rear fender and looks really nice. But it about breaks your teeth when you hit a bump. I rode his bike on the first leg. When I got on my Dream my fanny got a very much-needed and comfortable break.
It gave me an inspiration for a solo seat build. I was going to buy one of those solid metal solo seat pans off of eBay and build a solo seat using gel. But, now I am going to fab a solo seat frame that is more open like the original Dream seat frame so I can hang springs from an original Dream seat in it. If I fab a yoke to hang across the frame for mounting it I can probably use some of those short chrome helical springs underneath it as well.
2 layers of springs with Foam/gel on top and a custom cover - that should do it. No mods needed to the frame.
My vision is to hang it as low as I can to accent that beautiful line off the tank, down through the valley of the seat and up over the rear fender.
Not sure when I will get to this but, will let everyone know how it turns out. From the experience with my current seat I think this kind of design would be good to go on a long trip.
