speedometers and drives

Post by Chaindrive » Tue Oct 04, 2016 11:38 pm

There are 2 styles of speedo/tachs. Speedo needle swing/travel directions are clockwise on one counter-clock on another.
Question; which one is early and which one is late?
And - are there different speedo drives for each?
My speedo works with a drill motor turning but doesn't when hooked to wheel.

Thanks,

Early ones had the needles work in opposite directions. The drives are different. When you look at the output from the drive it should rotate the same way as the needle.

Nope. ........................lm
CHASE and I had a really good conversation on the subject of the direction the drive cable is wound.
Seems he has some wound both ways (clockwise/counter clockwise) so although I've never seen 2 different winds (up to now no reason to look) I stand corrected with my "Nope" as they must exist.
Thanks CHASE. ..............lm

I stand corrected

I stand corrected...guess I was confused because parts list shows pn's for two different cables for frame numbers coinciding with with frame numbers for the two different speedo/tach assemblies...
