speedometer needle removal

do i just pry them off with a little twist or are they locked in with a nut?

They are pressed on and a devil to remove without damaging.
Protect the face with something and pry up on both sides at the shaft at the same time.
Maybe you won't bend the soft metal they are made of!

I have been successful taking 4 needles off recently by just grabbing with my fingers and twisting. Twist toward the stop at 0 MPH/RPM until the needle moves on the pin. Then continue twisting while pulling up. It worked for me, but YMMV.

Well heck I thought everybody knew the trick to use 2 table spoons at the same time like mini pry bars across from each other to pry up
