Gear changes in resto mode...

Post by 66scrambler » Mon Jun 25, 2018 5:22 am

Thank you all for your help this past week... been making progress on unsticking a '66. The head is slowly coming loose and it appears the bottom end is in okay condition (at least the cylinders, pistons and cranks).

Does anyone know of a good 'dry' test for the transmission? Shouldn't I be able to move through all the gears without a clutch and with the engine out of the frame?

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to select all the gears without the engine running but you will have to rotate one of the shafts to help line up the dogs. Usually just turning the drive sprocket back and forth by hand is sufficient.
