Breezy, I betcha ur clutch plates are stuck together from sitting the last 42yrs. You probably should disassemble the clutch, clean it up and put it all back together and see if that solves your problem.
If you can get it into a higher gear, sometimes you can rock it back and forth to free up the plates, but that's not a sure thing. Good luck. Also, if you would update your profile to include your location. Sometimes a member of the forum is close by and could possibly lend you a hand.
