gearbox mods

Post by neale didcock » Thu Dec 03, 2009 10:17 am

This is the method I use to try to slowdown the fast wear rate of the layshaft and gears;
I drill a hole through the hollow dowel into the crankcase on the kickstart ratchet end of the shaft.
Then I ' scoop ' out the crankcase to match up with the hole to provide a oil drain into the hollow dowel.
Then I make a slight groove in the metal end bush to allow oil to flow from the hollow dowel into the bush, then into the crowded rollers on the layshatf.
I also make a taper on the end of the hollow dowel to allow the oil to not be obstucted when flowing from the ' scoop ' onto the dowel.
I hope this makes sense !! I have attached , ( I hope ) some photos to help.
Cheers Neale

Hi,

Good thinking, I did, when reading this post, the same thing. It will take a while when I will spit the case again to check if this is working better then standard.
