Great tips - thank you! I just rebuilt an engine on a bike I've been restoring and I've had all the clutch problems I've been reading about here (clutch will not release the engine). It's been a few years since I worked on these engines so I've been racking my brains out to figure out the problem. I finally realized it had to be the clutch disks sticking - even though I cleaned and scuffed them when I put it together. Maybe I scuffed them up to much. 20-25 years ago when I worked on these bikes, I would pick one up with a "stuck" clutch and end up taking the plates apart and lightly sanding them. It always worked back then but not this time. Anyway, I'll change things out with one of the other clutch assemblys I have and give it another try. Thanks again for the information!
