cl 77 clutch stuck

finally getting around to putting the motor back in my bike and got it up and running and idling right, but it seems the cluch might be stuck cuutch push rod wont push in. put some wieght on it and feels solid, even lightly taped with a hammer and nothing, motor was went through but then sat for a couple of years before i installed it the other day.

any ideas? is this possibly normal from sitting.

haven't got into the other side yet thought I'd consult the forum first

it's a 67 cl77

also any one have a copy of the service manual in pdf form. I bought bill silvers restoration CD years ago but the service manuals won't load. had them copied on an another computer that got stolen now i'm stuck with a scratched CD that doesn't load all the files

Are you trying push it in by hand? You won't be able to. Install the cover,make sure the bearing is in the clutch lifter, then see if it works.

I readjusted the clutch and it was still sticking a little. but then I took it for a ride and it seemed to work its self out, motor had been sitting for years. only rode it for a couple minutes though, it started running bad as it got hot. I guess I need to readjust the carbs.

another question, when adjusting the clutch where do you start with the handle bar adjustment? All the way in?

I'm having a similar issue on my '66 CA77.

Clutch cable broke while riding. I replaced the cable and the new cable doesn't disengage the clutch. I tool off the oil slinger cover and watched the clutch basket jiggle a tiny bit when I pull the clutch lever.

I have the cable as tight as possible. Everything feels right, but the clutch doesn't disengage (up on center stand, trying to turn the back wheel by hand with clutch lever pulled in). Any ideas?

My push rod can be pushed in easily by hand about an 1/8" and then it hits what feels like a solid metal wall. I know it should be tight, but it just doesn't feel like its pushing the rod in.

Any thoughts?

Did you adjust the LARGE adjuster held tight with that bolt with the 10mm head?. ......................lm
