I'm probably off by 1mm then. My harbor freight caliper's battery is dead so I'm relying on the super precise plastic measuring mark on the side :-) Steve, I have both sets of forks, the steel lower and the aluminum lower. Both of them measured the same diameter at the top.
Hmmm, interesting anomaly. According to Silver (Honda) data, type-2 forks (alu lower legs, external springs), introduced at CB77-1030130, are the only fork legs to have 33mm constant diameter from top to bottom. Steel lowers indicate type-1 forks, still 33mm below the lower yoke but internal springs and greater, beefed-up diameters upon entering the lower yoke.
Now I'm perplexed.... But, as lm says, "once it's printed, you can't change it"!
