Grease zerks/fittings..........

Post by cribbs74 » Tue Sep 25, 2007 12:16 pm

All,

Is there supposed to be a grease fitting in the speedo cable drive? Just cleaned mine up and noticed a little threaded hole, also noticed a bung hole in my frame on top of the swingarm bushing that has no zerk, I am guessing one was supposed to be fitted there as well?

Are they available in correct thread pitch off the shelf or do I need to order them?

Thanks,

Ron

Ron,

The zerks are not threaded, They're press in. Youf swingarm has one in the swingarm pivot bolt end and one in the swingarm itself. Total of four for the bike. Two on the RH side cover and two on the swingarm assy as described above. Ohio Cycle has them.

Ron,

You talking about the one that attaches to the lower RH fork slider?

I'll look at mine tomorrow and get back with you. I don't remember a hole. Perhaps a srew is missing on yours.

Can you post a pic?

Gary,

I am referring to the round aluminum speedo drive that the front axle goes through and rests against the front hub. The speedo cable screws onto it. My camera takes 1 meg pics so I need to figure out how to make them smaller before I can post.

zerk fitting on front hub at speedo drive?

Ron,

I have the same question as you did and am curious if you ever found an answer. It sure looks as if that screw on the speedo drive hub is a placeholder for a screw-in grease fitting.

No resolve on this one, I did install the correct screw in there though. I suppose you still could screw in a grease fitting, but the threads may be an issue.
