The guy who is doing the mufflers is here. He also does a CB72 5-speed 'box.

The new mufflers should be ready early next year.

I have a set of mufflers from Overlander in Australia. Fabulous quality - much better than the ones that are being supplied in the USA.

To clean out mufflers and pipes, I have used Sodium Hydroxide solution (very caustic so be careful). You can just fill up the pipes and leave for a while.

Yes - remove the chrome plate before welding. The chromer will do that for you if you work with them.

Thanks for that tip, G-man. Sodium Hydroxide or Lye is nasty stuff. The alkaline version of sulfuric acid.

If that's all it takes, then I'll give some platers a call and see what they say. I have a very solid muffler that has lost most of its chrome. Should be a good candidate for a replate if it does not cost an arm and a leg.

regards,
Rob
