CB77 brake cams
CB77 brake camsGood evening gents
Again thanks for both your replies. The new !inings are indeed 4mm thick, well done for that info. For Al, I tried both the old and new cables without any difference. I didn't have this issue with the original Honda linings at 4mm; I was concerned about the adhesive being past it hence having them relined. This would suggest that something else is amiss, would you not agree, and oversize linings wouldn't be the answer? As I said, the cable is adjusted until the thread is almost out of the holder at the foot rest and not even drag?😣 I've been away for 5 days and no email link so later this evening I'll go out to the garage and look again. There are only 2 cams, 2 shoes, 2 springs in the thing, what is there to miss😭 Cheers Kaiser Brake adjustment. Not much to miss for sure.
If you're certain you have the arms assembled correctly with the dots all lined up why not try putting your old shoes back on again just as a reference. I must say I don't think you will ever get the brakes working well with 4mm thick linings, why not take them back to the place that did them and ask them to do them again, properly this time.

I did use the old shoes but same result! David Silver sells aftermarket and original shoes but I don't think they would make any difference. As I said, this scenario has materialised since taking the brake to bits for chroming the linkages and lining the shoes. I feel I'm looking at it but not seeing the problem😕.

Using oversize linings end getting the machining done looks like a logical suggestion; however the brake was OK before I stripped it at 4mm, just the years old bonding material worried me. It's the fact that now with new linings there's nothing like it should be. Would 1mm make such a difference? A bloke known on the forum suggested the footrest may be incorrectly fitted but it compares with his photograph! It's a mystery time and really frustrating. Re: CB77 brake camsHow about posting some pictures of the bike and the brakes / cables?
