Thanks Chase.
Yes the plumb bob measurement shows the wheel off to the right. About 1/4".

rrietman wrote:the most common bent swingarm is a result of a hard lateral hit to the rear wheel. It displaces the swingarm one way or the other, but, because of the structures involved, can leave it parallel with the centerline of the bike. I have seen this a few times on old Honda's. Of course you would want to fix it, but if the chain tracks OK, I wonder if it really affects the ridability at all? I have a CL72 right now with this happening and it rides just fine, just looks a little odd from the rear.

That was my thought as well. The wheel being off to one side, but still parallel to the centreline. Nice to get some corroboration on that, thanks.

Well after various attempts - no success.
Perhaps one of those times when there is wisdom in knowing when to walk away.
Just don't have the skill, equipment or place to be a metal worker.
Purchased a swing arm off E-Bay and am waiting with fingers crossed.

A bit late (maybe a lot late) updating this - sorry about that.
The undamaged swing arm I purchased from E-Bay sorted out the alignment problem.
Again many thanks to everyone who helped me out on this one.
