Front wheel removal

Hey guys, i just acquired my great grandfathers cl77 and am starting the tear own process to see exactly whats needed and what needs to be replaced. This is the first bike i have ever owned or worked on so i do not know much about them at all. I have restored several classic cars but never a bike. I am having problems getting the brake lever detached from the front wheel, any help would be much appreciated.

I assume you mean you are trying to remove the front brake arm (the actuator lever on the wheel) from the front brake panel (the round aluminum center of the wheel)? If so, fully remove the hex bolt and the washer. Put a flat head screwdriver in the slot on the top of the front brake arm and rotate to spread apart. A couple of taps on the inside and the front brake arm should pull off.

Ahhh! Completely disconnect the brake cable from the brake arm and from the brake handle (on the handlebars). Remove the nut from the front of the cable and you should be able to pull enough wire out of the cable to slip it through that horizontal slot on the brake panel.
