Fr Brake Cable Removal CL77Fr Brake Cable Removal CL77About to remove front wheel, speedo off, fender off, but perplexed a tad with procedure to remove at the hub, the front brake cable. I see 2 nuts, 1 facing the engine side, other facing the front of bike - - which one to loosen? Do I then "push in" the brake arm by hand and drop the cable? That tight front spring on the hub has me wondering what might happen if I lose grip? Thanks again for the help.
Loosen forward facing nut and run it off the cable adjuster (against the rubber boot). Loosen the rear facing nut enough to slide the cable ass'y forward. Get enough slack to drop the cable end out of the brake arm clevis. Pull the cable ass'y toward the engine enough to slide the inner cable through the slot in the brake cable bracket on the hub. This will give you enough slack to remove the cable at the lever end after aligning the adjuster slots with the bracket slot. Then, as they say across the big pond, Bob's your uncle! - Stan
Bob's my uncle then...thanks for the direction, ended up backing off both nuts all the way.
Axle out, wheel off, speedo gearbox cleaning & re-grease next if necessary, and clean up the front brakes. Then to shine up the hubs....and search old post on all of the above. Zen must be in the journey, right? Cheers ! Ron
