CL77 Right carb problem

Post by jbills » Sun Mar 25, 2012 5:27 pm

My 1967 Cl77 will start with one kick. The only problem is that the left cylinder fires but the right side does absolutely nothing. I get lots of spark at the plug and I have rebuilt the carb twice but still nothing. I can spray ether directly into the carb and the cylinder roars to life. I have been struggling with this problem for over a year and I am ready to ride this summer.

Has anyone else had this problem or know of any solutions?

Thanks for help.

Sounds like either no fuel in the bowl, or a plugged jet or circut.

Pull the fuel line off the petcock that feeds that carb. Does gas run out?

Thanks Davemoto,

I took the bowl off and only had a slight amount of fuel sloshing around at the bottom. Shouldn't this bowl be somewhat full of fuel? I also blew air through the fuel inlet and a few other places. Is there any way to soak the carb and dissolve any residue that may have been picked up? How much air pressure would be recommended to force through the jets?

Thanks for the help,

John

The bowl won't be all that full as the float does take up quite a bit of room in the bowl. Once you drop the bowl away from the float the level goes down quite a bit.

Make sure that petcock is flowing well.

When it's running, pull up on the throttle cable for the right carb, does it pick rpms?

No increase in the rpms when I pull just the right throttle or lift the slide. When I get home from work tonite I am going to remove the carb and try to pump as much air through it as possible to dislodge any foreign matter that might have gotten into the jets or feed areas.
