Can't separate float bowl from carb body

Post by oldncapilot » Fri Feb 17, 2012 6:49 pm

My carb probably hasn't been apart since leaving the factory and I can't separate the float bowl from the carb body. I've tried tapping with a hammer and pulling with whatever strength I have but the gasket won't release it's grip. Does anyone have any tips for softening the gasket or getting the parts separated?

I would soak the joint with pb blaster or the like and heat with a heat gun/hair dryer.
Easy does it in a vise or with pliers
