I am making real progress on my honda dream, however I still have a carb problem. I can not seem to get the float set correctly. Either I set the float to high and it dumps fuel out the over flow tube or I set the float to low and the carb will not pick up the fuel. Can anyone offer any advice.Wolfpack

Float level is 26.5mm.It's easier to adjust this out of bike by turning it upside down and measureing from edge of carb body and have float so that the needle just closes without the spring in needle compressing.Did you rebuild carb.?Clean the carb? Are you sure your float needle functioning ok. Float not defective?Hope this helps.

Thanks for the float settings, I have not had a a chance to set my carb. yet, however I ran into another problem. My new rectifier is fried, I need to find out what the problem is, This is the second rectifier I have burned out. I have installed a new battery, points and condenser. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is. Wolfpack

Are you using an original or a small solid state one?I would think the only way to fry one might be to have your leads not wired correctly. The originals will get real hot if the leads are reversed.You may have a short somewhere possibly. I'm only guessing without seeing it. Joe

the first one that fried was the original, then I purchased a new solid state one from e bay, I think it was rated at 40 amps. The bike ran for about 30 minutes. I went back to start it the next day and it tried to start once, and that was it. I unpluged the leads and ohmed them using my meter and all three leads were grounded to the frame. I am not sure if the there is a wire that is in the wrong place or not. However, the leads going to the battery are all hot wires that are fused. I have noticed that with the key switch in the off position the wires going to the battery are still drawing voltage from the battery when I disconnect them( they arc slightly when I seperate them ). Lights work fine also. Wolfpack

If you fried two of these then there is something not wired right or shorted. First if you bought the one on ebay you can get the same thing at Radio Shack for only a few dollars and just add your own leads to it. The part number is 276-1185 for Radio Shack Rect. Pink wire should be on DC(+), Yellow on AC, DC(-) to ground and Brown to other AC terminall.Have you checked your stator at all or make sure the wires from it are plugged in to the correct leads down below the carb. where they come together?Check to make sure none of the wires are rubbing the frame also. What amp fuse is in the fuse holder? Hope this helps.Joe

Thanks for the info on the rectifier at radio shack, I will get another one soon. I have not checked the wires below the carb. or the stator. I willchecked those things out as soon as I get a free day. Thanks for all the help.
