Very ignorant on carb adjustment....

Post by sky1haze » Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:19 am

I am having the hardest time adjusting my carbs.....It sounds great, til 20 miles liket it starts bucking, I check the plugs and they are a beautiful flat black....aaarrrggghhhh!I adjusted the front screw, 1 1/2 to start, then adjusted the idle accordingly/ sounds great.....Should I turn the fuel/air screw more out? Does that use more air less fuel? Then adjust the idle accordingly? Does anyone have a step by step for novices? Do I dare take it apart and clean it and use my keyster to rebuild minus the jets????????? Anyone wanna come over and help me? lol

I ended up finding extra passages on my second carb cleaning more than once.
Make sure you force something...carb cleaner, compressed air, water or whatever into every orifice you can find and see where it comes out.
Make sure the slow jet and all its little holes are clean.

Just snug them up and they should be right. There is no spec for height that I know of......except for the float.
When the float tab is just resting on the spring loaded tip of the fuel cutoff valve (spring not depressed), measure 26.5mm from the gasket surface of the carb body to the top of the float.
Actually, its the bottom of the float as installed on the bike.
